LAHORE: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan convened a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday during which the leaders agreed that sit-ins hindered the country’s economic progress.
The chief minister informed Nisar that the National Action Plan (NAP) was being implemented across the province and the Interior minister expressed satisfaction over the progress in the matter.
Shahbaz asserted that NAP’s implementation was faster in Punjab as compared to that in other provinces. Conspiracy of certain political fronts to spread anarchy in the country failed miserably, the chief minister said.
He said the nation proved that it would not let progress and prosperity of country be hindered. National Action Plan was devised by the federal government early 2015 after attack on Army Public School (APS) in December 2014 that claimed at least 140 lives, mostly students.
The plan stressed registration of seminaries, tight rules over Friday sermons in mosques, coordination among law enforcement agencies among other anti-terror measures.
